Political Incorrectness

Political Incorrectness; being unPC; socially unacceptable language, ideas, or art that causes some to be "Triggered." Yes, my first blog post is about the scourge that is occurring on the modern day college campus. Why? Because outside of my nom de guerre I am a part of the Quora universe and inevitably a question or statement pops up regarding this topic, so I figured I'd begin laying the ground work for my opinion by stating how I see this term.

First let me say what I don't think the term means or allows. I don't believe that being politically incorrect allows for one to drop The N-Bomb; doing that makes you a bigot and a racist. Same goes for calling undocumented/illegal immigrants "Spics," "Wetbacks," or any other derogatory term for someone from Central and South America. As stated above, that's just plain bigotry and racism. It does not allow for one to call the LGBT community any of those special derogatory words; that just makes you homophobic.

So what is it? In my opinion being politically incorrect is being against the common social thought of the liberal left. Some examples include a strong national defense; not finding offense when a university dining hall has Taco Tuesday; or being offended with students who enjoy dressing and celebrating cultures not their own; enjoying different opinions and not seeing a problem (ie not rioting, interrupting, shouting down, denying entrance to participants) when a speaker comes to speak on a topic or whose opinions are not those of the majority of students.  These are but a few examples.

So as I comment about social thought and ideas, I will be coming from the idea that I see nothing wrong with enjoying Mexican food, or sushi, and maybe even enjoy wearing some of the colorful clothing from India and the African Continent.

To be continued...
